Having recently received the green light from relevant stakeholders, we can confirm that we will be opening the enrolment process for our daytime football college later this week, for the upcoming September academic term.
The Walton & Hersham FC Football College will be a full time football and education course, offering aspiring young footballers the opportunity to combine a comprehensive football training schedule with post-GCSE academic studies. Students will enrol for a BTEC Level 3 Certificate in Sports and Physiology in their first year, with plans to add further BTEC courses and certificates in the coming years, which will run parallel with plans to significantly scale the college.
The plans to launch the Football College come off the back of the incredible recent successes of the club, with the club’s directors thrilled to be able to offer another top-class sporting pathway to the local community and surrounding areas.
Calogero Scannella, Director of Football and club co-owner, expressed his desire for the club’s sporting pathways to be as broad as possible. “We want our football offering for the community to be far more than just the men’s senior team. Bringing together the W&H United junior set-up, our U18 Academy, the newly-created Women’s First Team, and now the Football College further reinforces our commitment to the community, and shows our dedication toward forging a true pathway for aspiring players in the Borough of Elmbridge and surrounding areas.”
Walton & Hersham Director of Strategic Development Sarfraz Ali is similarly upbeat about the club’s footballing growth: “We are fortunate as a club to have a burgeoning footballing set-up across all age groups, and the addition of the Football College is a significant step towards offering a comprehensive football pathway – a unique proposition in our area. The excitement around the club is already there, and coupled with a world-class sporting facility in the Xcel Sports Hub, we are confident the Football College will hit the ground running in September.”
The club hopes to open the official enrolment process for the Football College by the end of this week, and will release further information on its website and social media pages in due course.
