The Swans host Farnborough at the Hub on Saturday afternoon as they look to progress from the FA Cup Second Qualifying Round, having last reached the Third Qualifying Round in 2022-23. Billy Rowley saw his side draw 2-2 at home to Hanwell Town in their last game and will be hoping they can improve on their result in midweek, with this tricky FA Cup tie.

Dawid Rogalski netted in his seventh consecutive appearance to open the scoring against Hanwell Town, before the visitors pulled level minutes later from the penalty spot. Just seconds into the second half, Lucas Defise restored the Swans’ lead with an absolute pearler from the edge of the box. The lead did not stay intact for long, however, as the Geordies drew level again. Both sides battled it out for the remainder of the second half, but the points were ultimately shared.

Farnborough currently sit in seventh position in the National League South, and will looking to be getting back to winning ways after suffering a 14-0 defeat at home to Tadley Calleva in the Second Round of the Hampshire Senior Cup on Tuesday, fielding side comprised of club staff and supporters.

Billy Rowley will be hoping his side can make a statement against tougher opposition, with the Swans facing a Step 2 opponent for the first time in nearly two years. The Swans will no doubt be keen to make their way into the next round of the FA Cup, with a number of the squad having reached the First Round Proper stage of the competition with other clubs in recent years.

Head-to-head
Walton & Hersham have faced Farnborough on numerous occasions to date, but it will be the first meeting since the latter’s reformation as a new club in 2007. The two sides’ perhaps most remarkable set of encounters came in the 1987-88 FA Trophy, where a tie took four matches to be decided. The sides have met once in the FA Cup to date, with Farnborough grabbing a 3-2 victory over the Swans in a Third Qualifying Round tie in 1995 at Cherrywood Road.
