The Swans head to Poole Town on Saturday as they return to league action following their dramatic FA Cup victory over National League South side Farnborough last weekend.
Despite a home advantage in the tie, the Swans found themselves 1-0 down in the early stages and looked to be heading out of the cup until the tables were turned with just under 15 minutes to go. A handball in the box by a Boro defender handed Walton & Hersham a chance to level the scores from the penalty spot. Nana Owusu stepped up to take it and saw his initial effort saved, but quickly smashed home the rebound to equalise. A replay looked certain with the minutes ticking down in stoppage time, but Johl Powell picked up the ball and skipped past the visitors’ defence before seeing his effort go in off the post, sending the team and the fans into jubilation.
Poole Town currently sit in ninth position in the Southern League Premier Division South and exited the FA Cup in their last game, losing 3-2 at home to Taunton Town. The Swans were knocked off the top due to their 2-2 draw at home to Hanwell Town in their last league outing but will be hoping to capitalise on AFC Totton losing ground last weekend with their first defeat of the season.
Billy Rowley will be hoping his side can return to league action in positive fashion with a good performance against the Dolphins.
Head-to-head
Walton & Hersham have faced off against Poole Town twice, with both meetings coming last season. Their first encounter came at the home of the Dolphins in March, with the Swans coming away as 3-1 victors. The return fixture was played on the final day of the season and saw the Swans defeat their coastal opponents 3-0.
The Swans have enjoyed a strong vein of form in their recent trips to Dorset, with three wins from their last three games, including victories away to Dorchester Town last December, as well as more recently to Wimborne Town.
