The Swans play host to second-placed Gloucester City on Saturday afternoon, as they look to build on their last-gasp 2-1 win over Sholing last time out.
A relatively even first-half ended with the Swans a goal to the good, courtesy of star striker Dawid Rogalski. With eight minutes to play in the first half, Jordan Esprit picked the ball up on the left flank and played a brilliant cross into the box for the Polish Pele to head into the Sholing net.
The Boatmen put plenty of pressure on their hosts after the break, and this paid off with around 15 minutes remaining. Ex-Southampton player Charlie Hesketh whipped a long ball into the box that caught everyone by surprise, looping over Jos Barker to level it up. Heading into second-half injury time, the Swans snatched all three points when Mason Obeng’s high floated corner was met by the head of skipper Joey Jones to win it.
Gloucester City have enjoyed a strong start to the season, currently sat second in the table, but have suffered a dampened run of form in recent weeks. The Tigers fell to a 2-0 defeat at home to Bracknell Town in their last outing, their fourth consecutive game without a win. Eager to bounce back, Mike Cook will certainly have his side raring to go at the Hub.
Billy Rowley will be hoping the Swans can grab a win on Saturday as they are presented with a great chance to close the gap between themselves and the top three, heading into a crunch festive period.
Head-to-head
The Swans have never faced Gloucester City before, and this will be the first time they welcome a club from Gloucestershire to the Xcel Sports Hub. Walton & Hersham have hosted one side from the county before when they faced Cirencester Town at Stompond Lane twenty years ago in the FA Trophy, with the Swans winning 3-2.
