The Swans welcome Dorchester Town to the Xcel Sports Hub on Saturday afternoon, as they play for the first time this month. They fell to a 1-0 defeat at Tiverton Town last time out, with their match against Swindon Supermarine called off due to the effects of Storm Darragh last weekend.
Despite putting plenty of pressure on the hosts in horrific playing conditions, it was not meant to be for the Swans on their visit to Devon. They were made to rue their missed chances when Tivvy struck in the second half. The deadlock was ultimately broken in final stages of the game, when Joe Parker saw his free-kick blocked by the Swans wall, with the rebound falling kindly for him to capitalise on with a smart finish.
Dorchester Town have enjoyed a good start to the season as they sit in fifth place, one spot above the Swans with an extra game played. The Magpies improved their form in their last outing as they ended a seven-game winless run with a 4-2 victory over Hungerford Town. At the beginning of a packed festive period, Billy Rowley will be eager for his side to secure
the win on Saturday, especially with the prospect of going above their fellow play-off hopefuls.
Head-to-head
These two sides met for the first time last season with the Swans completing a league double over Dorchester. Walton & Hersham were the winning side of an action-packed goal fest at the Hub, as they ran out 6-3 victors. The Swans were made to work for the three points in the return fixture in December 2023 as they came from a goal down, with Eddie Simon netting a superb long-range strike to seal the turnaround.
