The Swans return to the Hub as they host Basingstoke Town following a 2-1 victory away to Taunton Town last time out.
Taunton were the first on the scoreboard when a mix-up at the back ended in the Swans putting the ball in their own net. They fought hard to level the proceedings and their work paid off just before half-time thanks to a brilliant team move. Junior Eccleston drove forward before some slick one-touch football between Dawid Rogalski and Johl Powell ended in the latter putting the equaliser away. The Swans completed a swift turnaround in stoppage time when Powell played a perfect through pass for Bobby-Joe Taylor to go around the ‘keeper and tap into an empty goal. The hosts looked to hit back after the break but couldn’t get through a valiant Swans defence.
Basingstoke have struggled this season and currently sit in 16th place. The ‘Stoke fell to a 1-0 defeat at the hands of Frome Town in their last game. In their previous meeting in the early stages of the season, the Swans succumbed to a 1-0 loss to Basingstoke at the Winklebury Sports Complex.
Billy Rowley will be hoping his side can continue their winning form as they head into the final games of the season.
Head-to-head
The two sides have met on 17 occasions, with their first meeting coming during the 1988-89 campaign. The Swans sparked somewhat of a rivalry with Basingstoke in the 2022-23 season as the two clubs battled for promotion from the Isthmian League South Central Division.
