Since joining the Swans in January 2024, Powell has proved an invaluable addition to the Walton & Hersham ranks, providing more than 40 goals and assists in all competitions. His game-changing ability was first felt at the club in the latter stages of the 23/24 season, where a string of fine performances and a run of goals propelled the Swans to a 7th place finish, just three points outside of the play-off spots.

Johl has continued to excel for the Swans since, notably forming a formidable attacking partnership with fellow Swans forward Dawid Rogalski this season. His blend of speed, guile, and power makes him a significant threat for any opposition defence, and all at the club are delighted to have secured his signature for another year.

First Team Manager Billy Rowley shared his excitement with Johl’s decision to extend his stay at the club: “The First Team management and I are delighted to have secured Johl Powell until the end of next season. I’m sure the fans will agree that he is a top player for Walton, and his character and determination embody exactly what we want in our team.

I first came across Johl as an under-13 at Millwall, and even at that age, his work ethic and eye for goal were evident. He’s a dedicated professional who takes his football extremely seriously, and I’m excited to continue working with him for at least the next 14 months.

I think I speak for everyone at Walton & Hersham, fans included, when I say it’s truly fantastic to have a player like Johl Powell as part of the Walton & Hersham squad.”

Club co-owner and director of football Calogero Scannella also shared his thoughts: “We’re really pleased to have Johl with us for another year. There is so much value in players who have worked with Billy [Rowley] over a prolonged period – not only for the tactical side of the game, but also for the dressing room culture and relationship with our fanbase.

Since taking over in 2019 we have seen great success where there has been long-term squad cohesion, and after last summer’s squad transformation we are looking to lay the foundations for longer-lasting success. The signing of JP10 is a huge step toward this, and we’re delighted to see him continue in a Swans shirt for another year.”
