The Swans travel to face sixth-placed Dorchester Town on Saturday afternoon as they look to build on their 2-1 win over Wimborne Town last time out.
A series of saves from both goalkeepers ensured it was level between the Swans and Wimborne at the break but it didn’t take long for the visitors to strike in the second half. A smart free kick move ended in Josh Carmichael heading into the net from close range to put his side ahead. The Swans pushed for an equaliser and it came in fortunate circumstances when Bobby-Joe Taylor skipped into the box before playing in a low cross that was turned in by a Wimborne man. Ralph Vigrass then completed a swift turnaround when he did brilliantly to break into the penalty area before placing a neat effort into the far corner.
Dorchester Town have enjoyed an impressive season but two consecutive stalemates have seen them drop out of the play-off spots. The Magpies played out a thrilling 3-3 draw with fellow promotion hopefuls Gloucester City in their last outing but could not stop Havant & Waterlooville leapfrogging them into fifth place.
Goalkeeper Jos Barker stole the headlines when these two sides met earlier in the season. The Swans had gone 1-0 up through Eoin Bolger but a quickfire second half comeback from Dorchester meant they had to fight back to draw. Barker headed in from close range deep into stoppage time to snatch a point for the Swans.
With the prospect of securing a play-off spot edging closer, Billy Rowley will be keen for his side to continue their recent winning form against Dorchester.
Head-to-head
Walton & Hersham first met Dorchester Town as part of last season’s league campaign and completed an impressive double. Their encounter in the August heat saw the Swans secure an emphatic 6-3 win at the Hub. This was then followed up with a 2-1 away win in mid-December.
