The Swans hit the road for the first time this season as we travel to face Hanwell Town on Tuesday evening, looking to continue our winning start to the campaign following an emphatic and eventful 6-3 home victory over Plymouth Parkway in our opening game.

We went behind early on, but a quickfire double from Jack Wood on his competitive Swans debut saw us turn the tie on its head inside 20 minutes. However, the visitors pulled themselves level minutes before the break.

Despite the momentum being in our favour, we started the second-half in the worst way possible when Parkway retook the lead four minutes in. That deficit didn’t last long though when a swift counterattack ended in Johl Powell beating the ‘keeper with a deflected effort to level it up once again.

The thrilling game was at risk of being completely out of our favour however when Thabo Kuaho was shown a red card during a stoppage in play. We didn’t let that stop us though as just moments after, Mason Obeng led a quick break which resulted in Wood grabbing his hat-trick with a powerful strike to put us back in front.

We managed to keep the pressure on our visitors and minutes after coming off the bench to make his Swans debut, Diamond Edwards pounced on a rebounded effort to put us in control of the game. Wood rounded off the scoring late on with a record-breaking fourth goal from a tight angle.

Hanwell fell to defeat in their opening game, losing 1-0 away to Poole Town courtesy of a first-half goal by Harvey Slade.

Swans manager Billy Rowley will be keen for us to keep our winning start to the season going as we face a tough test at Hanwell.

Head-to-head

Having encountered Hanwell Town on four occasions, our meetings haven’t gone without excitement. We first met the Geordies during the 2023/24 season, securing a 2-1 victory in the away tie, but falling to defeat by the same scoreline in the return fixture.

Both meetings last season saw the points shared with a 2-2 draw earlier in the season followed up by a thrilling 3-3 draw at Hanwell in March. Former Swans loanee Bobby-Joe Taylor netted his first goal for the club in the game with Ralph Vigrass and Johl Powell also getting on the scoresheet as we fought back from a goal down on two occasions.
