The Swans are back on home action this afternoon as we welcome National League side Sutton United to the Xcel Sports Hub for a blockbuster FA Trophy third round clash.
We were victorious last time out as we took three points from Uxbridge with a dramatic 3-2 victory. Johl Powell put us ahead in the first-half, but a quickfire double from the Reds put us on the backfoot until Jack Wood levelled matters with a stunning curled strike from the edge of the box. It looked as if the points were to be shared, but we struck in stoppage time once again as on the 90th minute, Dawid Rogalski converted from close range to win us the game.
The U’s suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of Shrewsbury Town to be knocked out of the FA Cup in their last outing. A goal by former Swans player Kai Jennings had them leading until stoppage time, but an equaliser and extra time winner broke their hearts.
As we begin a new era under the leadership of Jakub Pietrzak, our new gaffer will be hoping we can produce an historic moment at the Hub with a giant-killing victory that would see us equal our best ever performance in the competition.
Head-to-head
Having first met Sutton during the 1945/46 season, we have faced them 66 times, winning 21 and losing 31. Our last encounter came a decade ago in the 2015/16 Surrey Senior Cup.
