The Swans head into Tuesday’s game having fell to a narrow 1-0 defeat away to AFC Totton in their season opener on Saturday. Billy Rowley’s side put in a tremendous shift and were unlucky to not come away with a result, largely due to a heroic performance between the sticks from Stags goalkeeper Josh Gould. Walton & Hersham will be looking to bounce back from the defeat when they face newly-promoted Marlow tomorrow evening.

Thirteen players made their competitive debuts for the Swans against Totton, with many putting on positive displays in front of their travelling fans. U18s star James Hall was amongst the 13, making his first senior appearance for the club. Marlow will also be looking for their first three points of the new season, having held Winchester City to a 1-1 draw at the Alfred Davies Memorial Ground in their first game of the season. The Blues are newcomers to the Southern League Premier Division South, having been promoted via the play-offs from the Isthmian League South Central Division last season.

Billy Rowley will be hoping his Swans team can put Saturday’s opening defeat behind them and secure their first win of the 2024-25 season against the Blues. Dawid Rogalski will be keen to make an impact against his former side, having joined Walton & Hersham from Marlow earlier this summer.

Head-to-head
Walton & Hersham’s first encounter with Marlow came in the 1987-88 season, with the two sides meeting one another 11 times in total since. The Swans have been the more successful side in the matchup, winning six of the meetings compared to Marlow’s two victories. The two sides last met in the 2022-23 season, with the Blues winning the first meeting 4-3, also on 13th August, courtesy of a Dawid Rogalski hat-trick on a scorching hot afternoon. The Swans avenged the defeat in the return fixture in January 2023, thumping Marlow 3-0 thanks to a Harry Mills brace and a long-range strike by John Gilbert. The Swans will be hoping Dawid Rogalski can reignite his goalscoring form in the matchup tomorrow evening, as he lines up for his first competitive home start in a Walton & Hersham shirt.
