The Swans head into Saturday’s game off the back of a thumping 3-0 win over Marlow on Tuesday evening. Billy Rowley’s side did well to bounce back from their opening day defeat to AFC Totton with such an impressive performance, and will be looking to kickstart a winning run when they host Merthyr Town tomorrow afternoon.

Three individual players got on the scoresheet against Marlow, with Dawid Rogalski and Johl Powell netting in quick succession in the first half, before Alex Body wrapped up the scoring with a goal in second-half stoppage time. Nana Owusu made his second Swans debut in the win having returned to the club on Monday, after initially departing earlier in the summer for Step 2 side Enfield Town.

Merthyr currently sit top of the Southern League Premier Division South following an impressive start to the season. The Martyrs beat Tiverton Town 6-0 in their season opener, and continued their momentum with a 2-0 victory over Frome Town on Tuesday evening.

Billy Rowley will be keen for his Swans team to overcome a strong Merthyr side on Saturday, as they look to build a run of form heading into the bank holiday weekend.

Head-to-head
Walton & Hersham have met Merthyr Town just twice with both encounters coming in the league last season. The Martyrs came away from the Hub with a win in November, defeating the Swans 3-2 despite having had a man sent off. The Swans travelled to Wales in search of revenge in March, and in spite of an incredibly dominant performance, they were held to a 1-1 draw by their hosts.

Saturday’s game marks the fourth time that the Swans have hosted a Welsh opponent, after hosting Swansea City in 1994, Newport County in 2001, and Merthyr Town last year.
