The Swans host local rivals Chertsey Town off the back of a dominant 4-0 win away to Wimborne Town on Saturday afternoon. Billy Rowley’s side have put together an impressive early run of form and will be eager to continue this in tomorrow’s local derby.

Nana Owusu won and scored a first half penalty to give Walton & Hersham the lead on the 35 minute mark, before Anis Nuur rifled home a tidy finish on the stroke of half-time to double the advantage. Soon after the break, Dawid Rogalski headed in Johl Powell’s pinpoint cross for his third goal of the season, and Cam Thompson made certain of the victory with a calm finish late on. The victory over Wimborne Town fired the Swans into third position in the league table.

Chertsey Town sit in fifth place in the Southern League Premier Division South after a good start to their campaign, following their recent promotion from the Isthmian South Central. The Curfews were held to a 1-1 draw by fellow league newcomers Frome Town in their most recent outing.

Billy Rowley will be keen for his side to continue their fine run of form against the Curfews, with Friday night’s FA Cup tie at Hanworth Villa just around the corner.

Head-to-head
Walton & Hersham have met Chertsey Town 29 times, with their first encounter coming in the 1960-61 FA Amateur Cup. The Swans have been the far more dominant side of the fixture, winning on 21 occasions while the Curfews have been victorious just five times. The most recent meeting between the neighbouring sides came last season in the Surrey Senior Cup, with The Curfews departing KT12 victorious after winning in a penalty shootout following a 1-1 draw in regulation time.

Chertsey Town hold a place in Walton & Hersham’s history having been the opponents for the last match ever played at Stompond Lane in 2017, with the Swans memorably running out 7-0 winners.
