It’s another local affair this week as The Swans head to Hanworth Villa on Friday evening, having defeated local rivals Chertsey Town 3-2 in a fiercely contested match on Bank Holiday Monday. Billy Rowley’s side have enjoyed a good run of form in the league and will be looking to carry this over into the FA Cup, as they enter the competition at the First Qualifying Round stage tomorrow night.

Adam Mekki opened the scoring for his side against the Curfews on Monday, scoring his first goal for the club with a tidy finish past the keeper, having been played through by Dawid Rogalski. Chertsey pegged the Swans back on the stroke of half-time, and then took the lead midway through the second half through Billy Montague. Anis Nuur capped off his fine bank holiday weekend when he won and then calmly dispatched a penalty to level it up. Dawid Rogalski won the game for the Swans late on, when he poked home the rebound from Johl Powell’s initial shot. The striker was then given his marching orders after committing a second yellow card offence deep into stoppage time.

Hanworth Villa currently sit in ninth position in the Isthmian League South Central Division and were victorious in their last match, thumping Ashford Town 4-1. The Villains overcame both Knaphill and Abbey Rangers on their way to this stage of the FA Cup.

Billy Rowley will be eager for his side to continue their impressive form against the Villains, in as they bid to put together a cup run following last year’s disappointing First Qualifying Round exit. Despite his sending off against Chertsey Town, Dawid Rogalski will be available to face Hanworth Villa in accordance with FA rules, and will instead miss the Swans’ trip to Plymouth Parkway on 7th September.

Head-to-head
Walton & Hersham have faced Hanworth Villa on ten occasions, with their first meeting coming in the 2016-17 season. The Swans have dominated the tie, winning six, drawing three, and losing just once.

The last encounter between the sides came in the 2023 Isthmian League South Central play-off final, contested at the Xcel Sports Hub. The Swans ran out 3-1 victors, memorably securing their third consecutive promotion.
