The Swans head to Gosport Borough on Saturday afternoon, as they look to get back to winning ways in their first away game of 2025, following a spate of recent postponements.
In their last outing, the Swans were held to a 1-1 draw by a resilient Hungerford Town side at the Hub. It was The Crusaders who took an early lead inside just two minutes, as striker Kyle Tooze picked out the top corner through a phenomenal long range. The Swans hit back in the second half when Dawid Rogalski played a great ball over the top to Nana Owusu, who took a touch before firing past the ‘keeper The two sides battled it out to ensure that the points were shared from what was a rather physical encounter.
Gosport have enjoyed a mixed season so far, sitting in 11th place. The Boro’ have lost their last two games, succumbing to AFC Totton and Taunton Town respectively. The Hampshire side will be buoyed however by the recent appointment of Danny ‘Dutchy’ Hollands, who takes up the First Team manager post at Gosport following the recent departure of joint-manager duo Joe Lea and Pat Suraci. Hollands notably has over 350 Football League appearances to his name, including stints at AFC Bournemouth, Charlton Athletic, and Portsmouth.
The Swans have already met Gosport earlier in the season, and were held to a 2-2 draw at the Hub back in October. Both sides were reduced to ten men in the game, before Joey Jones snatched a point late on after a second half comeback from The Boro’.
With fifth-placed Havant & Waterlooville now only two points ahead of the Swans, Billy Rowley will be wanting his side to bounce back with a win against Gosport as they look to keep pushing for a play-off spot.
Head-to-head
The two sides have met one another on just three occasions to date, with the first set of encounters coming last season. The first meeting at Privett Park ended as a 2-2 draw, after the Swans let a two-goal lead slip. Gosport ran out 4-0 winners in the return fixture in December.
