The Swans make the trip to face Gloucester City on Saturday afternoon, as they look to put a play-off rival to the sword following a 3-0 win over Tiverton Town last time out. It was a straightforward victory for the Swans against Tivvy last weekend, as they took the lead inside 15 minutes when Anis Nuur’s effort deflected off Johl Powell into the back of the net, after an exceptional 41-pass team move. Powell grabbed a second shortly after, when he got on the end of a low cross from Bobby-Joe Taylor to cap off another superb team move. Some heroics from Joe Duncan in the Tiverton goal kept the Swans at bay, but they put the seal on victory just after the hour mark. Eoin Bolger played a corner short to Taylor, whose long-range shot was parried directly into the path of Elliott Bolton, who converted from close range.
Having been relegated from the National League North last season, Gloucester have made a fine effort to bounce straight back, currently sitting in third in the league. The Tigers are unbeaten in their last 12 games, and secured a last-gasp 1-0 victory away to a struggling Poole Town last time out. The two sides met earlier this season and played out an astonishing 4-4 draw at the Hub, with much influence coming from Storm Bert. The Swans found themselves 4-0 up at half-time but a second-half comeback from Gloucester, aided by a gale force tailwind, ensured that the points were shared in incredible circumstances.
With the Swans having established a foothold in the play-off places, Billy Rowley will be keen for his side to secure another victory on Saturday. A win over one of the best sides in the division would send a clear message to play-off rivals that the Swans are determined to secure a spot.
Head-to-head
This will be just the second meeting between Walton & Hersham and Gloucester City, with the first encounter coming in the 4-4 draw earlier in the campaign.
