Walton & Hersham FC are proud to have partnered with local charity Catalyst Support and alcohol-free brewing company Days Brewing for our FA Trophy game against Farnborough.
Drinking is often linked with football culture, but we want to encourage fans to consider non-alcoholic options when watching the game.
Days Brewing will be present at the match to offer our supporters a non-alcoholic option to enjoy while at the Hub.
During the day, 100% of every purchase of a non-alcoholic alternative from Days Brewing will be donated to Catalyst supporting adults in Surrey, including those with drug and alcohol concerns.
November is widely recognised as a time to focus on men’s mental health, looking after both physical and emotional wellbeing. Football is a powerful source of community, belonging and connection, but alcohol can sometimes interfere with that positive experience.
We are aware of the strong link between drinking and football, yet excessive alcohol use can affect mood, behaviour and judgement, and prevent fans from fully enjoying or remembering the match.
Choosing alcohol-free alternatives, such as those offered by Days Brewing, allows supporters to take part in the matchday spirit while staying clear-headed and in control.
Speaking on the partnership, our Chief Executive Officer Joe Brine said: “As a club, we have a responsibility to promote wellbeing both on and off the pitch.
“Partnering with Catalyst Support and Days Brewing allows us to encourage positive choices and raise awareness around issues that affect so many in our community. Football should always be about connection, not consumption, and we’re proud to support that message.”
If alcohol has been a concern for you, a close family member or friend, there is confidential help available for anyone affected at Catalyst Support.
Through its Catalyst Counselling service, the charity offers affordable, professional counselling for people facing difficulties with substance use, anxiety, depression or general wellbeing. No one has to face these challenges alone, help and understanding are available.
